Zilli/Bruzi Prophethood

Ahmadis/Qadianis believe in zilli/Bruzi prophethood which means that one of the islamic ummah can be a prophet by completely following our Holy Prophet s.a.w.

They try to prove this kind of prophethood, which actually has no relation to islam, by twisting the meaning of some Quranic verses.

I will not discuss their supposed "evidences" about this kind of prophethood, rather I will introduce some Ahadith of our Holy prophet s.a.w which destroys this idea completely.

1- عَنْ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: "وَعَظَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم مَوْعِظَةً وَجِلَتْ مِنْهَا الْقُلُوبُ، وَذَرَفَتْ مِنْهَا الْعُيُونُ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! كَأَنَّهَا مَوْعِظَةُ مُوَدِّعٍ فَأَوْصِنَا، قَالَ: أُوصِيكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ، وَالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ وَإِنْ تَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَعِشْ مِنْكُمْ فَسَيَرَى اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا، فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِسُنَّتِي وَسُنَّةِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ الْمَهْدِيينَ، عَضُّوا عَلَيْهَا بِالنَّوَاجِذِ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَمُحْدَثَاتِ الْأُمُورِ؛ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلَالَةٌ".

[رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ]، وَاَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ [رقم:266] وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

On the authority of Abu Najeeh al-’Irbaad ibn Saariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave us a sermon by which our hearts were filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. So we said, “O Messenger of Allah! It is as though this is a farewell sermon, so counsel us.” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “I counsel you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah, and to listen and obey [your leader], even if a slave were to become your ameer. Verily he among you who lives long will see great controversy, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (the rightly guided caliphs), those who guide to the right way. Cling to it stubbornly [literally: with your molar teeth]. Beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for verily every bidah (innovation) is misguidance.”

[Abu Dawud]

It was related by at-Tirmidhi, who said that it was a good and sound hadeeth.

In this Hadith, our Holy prophet s.a.w warned us of newly invented matters [in the religion], and said that every bidah (innovation) is misguidance. Certainly, what is called Zilli/ Bruzi prophethood is a newly invented matter and is misguidance.

2- عن عائشة، رضي الله عنها، قالت‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم‏:‏ ‏"‏من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏ متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

وفي رواية لمسلم ‏:‏ ‏"‏من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد‏"‏‏.

Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "If anyone introduces in our matter something which does not belong to it, will be rejected".

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The narration in Muslim says: "If anybody introduces a practice which is not authenticated by me, it is to be rejected".

MGA Qadiani introduced Zilli/Bruzi prophethood which doesn't belong to Islam and isn't authenticated by our Holy prophet s.a.w and so, it is to be rejected.

3- عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَقْتَتِلَ فِئَتَانِ، فَيَكُونَ بَيْنَهُمَا مَقْتَلَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ، دَعْوَاهُمَا وَاحِدَةٌ، وَلاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يُبْعَثَ دَجَّالُونَ كَذَّابُونَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ ثَلاَثِينَ، كُلُّهُمْ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not be established till there is a war between two groups among whom there will be a great number of casualties, though the claims (or religion) of both of them will be one and the same. And the Hour will not be established till there appear about thirty liars, all of whom will be claiming to be the messengers of Allah. "

In this Hadith, our Holy Prophet s.a.w warned us of liars who claim to be the messengers of Allah. I would like to ask our Ahmadi/ Qadiani friends if MGA was claiming messenger-ship? If they answered: yes, so how would they exclude MGA of being one of these liars while our Holy Prophet s.a.w didn't exclude any one. If MGA was a true prophet, certainly he would be excluded, but actually he wouldn't.

A point which draws attention in this Hadith is that our Holy Prophet s.a.w warned of claimants only, which doesn't include Issa Ibn Mariam a.s whose prophet-hood was already evidenced by Quran and authentic Ahadith. No one can say that Issa a.s is a claimant and who says so, is a kaffir.

4- عن أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إِنَّ الرِّسَالَةَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ قَدِ انْقَطَعَتْ فَلاَ رَسُولَ بَعْدِي وَلاَ نَبِيَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ لَكِنِ الْمُبَشِّرَاتُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْمُبَشِّرَاتُ قَالَ ‏"‏ رُؤْيَا الْمُسْلِمِ وَهِيَ جُزْءٌ مِنْ أَجْزَاءِ النُّبُوَّةِ ‏"‏ ‏

Anas bin Malik narrated:

"The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Indeed Messenger-ship and Prophethood have been terminated, so there shall be no Messenger after me, nor a Prophet.'" He(Anas) said:"The people were concerned about that, so he (s.a.w) said: 'But there will be Mubash-shirat.' So they said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What is Mubash-shirat?' He said: 'The Muslim's dreams, for it is a portion of the portions of Prophethood.'"

How could MGA Qadiani be a prophet while Messengership and Prophethood have been terminated?! And look, how our Holy prophet said, when people were concerned about that. He didn't say: there will be Zilli/Bruzi prophethood, instead, he said: there will be Mubash-shirat. No one can say that this Hadith includes Issa Ibn Mariam a.s as he was already blessed with messenger-ship and prophet-hood and these will never ever be taken from him.

5- عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ بَنَى دَارًا فَأَتَمَّهَا وَأَكْمَلَهَا إِلاَّ مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَيَتَعَجَّبُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلاَ مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ فَأَنَا مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ جِئْتُ فَخَتَمْتُ الأَنْبِيَاءَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

"The similitude of mine and that of the Apostles is like that of a person who built a house and he completed it and made it perfect but for the space of a brick. People entered therein and they were surprised at it and said: Had there been a brick (it would have been complete in all respects). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I am that place where the brick (completing the building is to be placed), and I have come to finalise the chain of Apostles."

Sahih Muslim.

It is now clearly evident that there is no place of brick for MGA Qadiani or one another. In the other hand, the brick of Issa Ibn Mariam a.s is already present. An Ahmadi/Qadiani may say that the Hadith is about law-bearing prophets!. And we say: "Produce your proof if you are truthful.".

This Hadith also clarifies that finality of prophethood doesn't contradict the second advent of Issa Ibn Mariam a.s.

6- حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قُلْتُ لاِبْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَأَيْتَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ابْنَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ مَاتَ صَغِيرًا، وَلَوْ قُضِيَ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَعْدَ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَبِيٌّ عَاشَ ابْنُهُ، وَلَكِنْ لاَ نَبِيَّ بَعْدَهُ‏.

Narrated Isma`il:

I asked Abi `Aufa, "Did you see Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (ﷺ) ?" He said, "Yes, but he died in his early childhood. Had there been a Prophet after Muhammad then his son would have lived, but there is no Prophet after him."

Sahih al-Bukhari 6194.

No prophet after our Holy Prophet s.a.w means Zilli/Bruzi prophets, subordinate prophets or whatever their name is. Certainly, the idea of Zilli/Bruzi prophethood is completely destroyed by this Hadith as if Ibrahim would have lived, he would be a great follower of our Holy prophet s.a.w. His life was impossible because zilli/Bruzi prophethood and any kind of prophethood was impossible.

7- حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ مِشْرَحِ بْنِ هَاعَانَ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لَوْ كَانَ بَعْدِي نَبِيٌّ لَكَانَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated 'Uqbah bin 'Amir:

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "If there was to have a Prophet after me, it would have been 'Umar bin Al-Khattab."

Umar bin Al-Khattab r.a was a great follower of our Holy Prophet s.a.w and was one of his Ummah and wasn't Israeli , despite that, he couldn't be a prophet as there is no prophet after our Holy Prophet s.a.w. It is clearly evident that htis Hadith speaks about new prophethood.

8- حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَرَجَ إِلَى تَبُوكَ، وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ أَتُخَلِّفُنِي فِي الصِّبْيَانِ وَالنِّسَاءِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ أَلاَ تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ نَبِيٌّ بَعْدِي ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Sa`d:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) set out for Tabuk. appointing `Ali as his deputy (in Medina). `Ali said, "Do you want to leave me with the children and women?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Will you not be pleased that you will be to me like Aaron to Moses? But there will be no prophet after me."

Sahih al-Bukhari 4416

Ali Ibn Abi Taleb r.a was a great follower of our Holy Prophet s.a.w and was one of his Ummah and wasn't Israeli , despite that, he couldn't be a prophet as there is no prophet after our Holy Prophet s.a.w.

Aaron a.s was non law-bearing prophet, despite that Ali Ibn Abi Taleb r.a couldn't be a prophet like him. So, this Hadith prevents both Tashrii and non-Tashrii prophet-hoods.

The previous Ahadith had given some examples to clarify what kind of prophethood is impossible. Umar bin Al-Khattab, Ali Ibn Abi Taleb and Ibrahim r.a prevented from being new prophets. Thus, "no prophet after me" means new prophets.
